Make Music

 "One ought, every day at least, to hear
a little song, to read a good poem, to see
a fine picture, and if it were at all possible,
 to speak a few reasonable words."
Johann Wolfgang  Von Goethe

Make Music
by Elece Hollis

Make music wherever you go;
That's generosity.

Tap a rhythm—start the beat;
That's leadership.

Hum and strum a melody;
That's encouragement.

Laugh at false starts and off key notes;
That's grace.

Sing the words out loud and bold;
That's a gift to the world.

"Then those who sing,
 as well as those who play the flutes, shall say,
 'All my springs of joy are in you.'"
 Psalm 87:7

East Texas Morning

Not without design does God write the music of our lives. Be it
ours to learn the tune, and not be dismayed at the rests.
~ John Ruskin

On a bright hot Texas morning
You can hear the bees a-buzzing
Cicadas blend their voices
With the rustling of the leaves
The pine tree's nighttime whisper has
Become a soft, brushed rhythm
Wildflowers dance beside the road;
Cars in passing stir a breeze.
Mockingbird joins in the chorus,
Sings the songs the flowers dance to,
Grazing cows find shelter
In the shade of spreading trees.

Wedding Day

All your life you dream;
All your life you wait,
Until
One day
You fall in love.
Life begins afresh
With a wedding day.
Like a movie's end,
A movie that
Changes your heart,
With music
That sinks into your soul;
Music that insists
You stay
Listening
In the emptying theater
To hear the last
Sweet note,
Before going out into
The altered
Evening.
Life begins with the end of
Waiting.
