Azaleas

Blue sky like the ocean,
Pink petals
Brush strokes
From
God's paintbrush
On my day!
Jesus loves me this I know!

Toy Horses

Dream horses
Take a girl off to a world where
 She cares for horses,
Rides horses,
Drives Horses.
It's a real world of make believe.
 A sweet one!

Tulip pink ruffled

A ruffled pink tulip
Like a wild rose
Surprised me.
Excited me
Delighted me
With its uniqueness.
Makes me realize
The awesome creativity of God
In creating fabulous even
the simple flower.

Orange flowers

Bright and full of light
These are the hues that say happy to us.
A flower colored a bright orange
Spells freedom and joy.
Says, "Perk up and praise God."
Life is sweet!.

Dogwood

Petals like white crosses
Pure  and innocent as Jesus was
Each petal tip touched through with red
Where thorns and nails pierced Him.
 Each centered with a crown
 Fit for a king.
Dogwood blooms at Easter
To remind us God loves us.
He does.

Pink Tulip

The tulips at the Honor Heights Gardens
always remind me of Cindy.
She and I used to go there every spring with our children.
One year the gardeners pulled up the faded tulips
and gave them to the visitors.
Cindy and I took some home to plant in our yards.
Every year since Muskogee tulips have bloomed
in spring in my flowerbed.
I miss my friend,
but I remember her again every spring
At tulip time.

Free feather

Crawling through the grass and clover
To photograph dandelions and  bluets
A feather caught my eye.
A work of art itself.
After serving a bird
Helping him fly,
He has a season of freedom
Then goes back to the soil.
Pretty feather
I would have missed it walking!

Purple Tulip

I planted a small brown bulb.
With sunshine and rain came this leaf and pink/green stem.
The bud burst open to reveal all this color and beauty inside,
opening and reaching for the sky.
What a surprise!
Can there be hidden in people this kind of beauty
waiting for warmth and prompting to break out and glow?

Bloom Again

Pinks on white on green
Saintpaulias
African Violets
Gesneriaceae
What can I call you ?
You add color to winter days.

China Bowl

China bowl filled with violets
 My own little garden
 Makes me smile each time
I pass it
Sweetness.

Redbud

Redbud blooms outside my front door.
Red buds open into pink flowers
Like cotton candy on dark sticks
 Waving in the sweet air,
Attracting bees and
Singing spring songs.
When leaves come on
They push the blossoms.
Which fall softly-
A pink ring of
Melted strawberry ice cream
Around the trunk on a green grass plate.

Raisin Cookies

Cinnamon,
Oats, raisins,
Sweet creamery butter,
Soft wheat flour, vanilla flavoring,
Toasted pecans.
Remind me
Of being home
Baking cookies
With my Daddy
Sweet treat-
Sweet man-
Sweet memories.

White Roses

White or pink?
Both
Blended.
Pearl.
Delicate petals
Fragile as a baby's skin,
Sweet as baby's breath.
Swirls of softness
Like a child's voice
Singing
In a dream.

Periwinkle

Periwinkle so blue, so soft, and bright
Held on stems with waxy heart-shaped leaves.
Like little pinwheels
Spinning in the south wind.

Faces

Pansies on a bright cold spring day
Smile at us
From their spot in the flowerbed.
Cheerful little fairy faces.

Angel

Angel in the garden
Watching fennel grow,
Do you think its yellow flowers
Come too slow?

Seated on your pretty perch,
Holding chin in hands
Gardens are the sweetest spots
In any lands.

Soaked in sunshine all the day
At night-- stars overhead,
There may be no finer sleep
Than in a flowerbed.

Art

Pink Magnolia touched by frost
And bright sun
 In the same day
Still graceful
Still elegant
Like art deco
By God.

Fog Morning

Fog
Like a blanket
laid softly
Pushed back with the dawn.
Morning on the farm
Comes gently.

Peach blooms

Even a rainy day under a gray sky
is beautiful when the peach tree blooms.
It is worth a walk in the cold drizzle
to look at the blossoms close
and see the sprays of leaves beginning to uncurl.
The scent on a wind can fill an lonely heart with hopes.
The color is the perfect pink
of a first daughter's first Sunday dress.

Sunlight

Sunlight captured?
No...
Still elusive,
Mine for a only a moment
Then gone.
Daffodil.

Skaters

Pear tree blooms like graceful figure skaters
 in flouncy white skirts,
held aloft by the sleek arms of
their handsome dance partners.

Blue Pansy

Bulbs
 sprout among
the winter's blue pansies.
 Soon the pink
of hyacinth will add its scent
 and the tulips will wave
purple and red chalices
at the sky.

Ginger Dog

Ginger is a lab/hound mix.
She enjoyed helping me weed the flowerbed.
She's excited about spring's arrival.
She rolled in the dry grass and leaves I pulled free.
Such a lot of help!
She was absolutely lit up with cheer.
Can't you tell?

White Cream

Pure joy!
Sunshine on daffodils
Like cream poured on Moonlight

Madison

Wrapped in red
Wearing a bow
Gift from God.
What a treasure she is!
In a meadow of new grass,
Wildflowers and sunshine
She is one of God's
Most beautiful creations.

Another year
Another birthday cake
My little boy turns eighteen

Friends and family,
Fun and Games
A happy day!

Purple Bloom

Today is full of promise.
When a bloom smiles at you as you pass,
Kisses you shyly when you stop.
Blesses you with fragrance to hold on to.
How can you not know
 That God is near?

Tree Tulip

Waking up
To sunlight and warmth,
Tulip tree,
Embellished with hundreds
Of dark pink buds,
Like parasols
They unfurl
In a day
Each a masterpiece,
Each a glory.
Each a gift.
